Surah Al-Mulk: The Sovereignty
Surat No 67 : سورة الملك
بِسۡمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِیۡمِ
شروع کرتا ہوں اللہ تعا لٰی کے نام سے جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم والا ہے
In the name of Allah , the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 1
تَبٰرَکَ الَّذِیۡ بِیَدِہِ الۡمُلۡکُ ۫ وَ ہُوَ عَلٰی کُلِّ شَیۡءٍ قَدِیۡرُ ۨ ۙ﴿۱﴾
بہت بابرکت ہے وہ ( اللہ ) جس کے ہاتھ میں بادشاہی ہے اور ہرچیز پر قدرت رکھنے والا ہے ۔
Blessed is He (Allah) in whose hand is the kingdom and who has power over everything.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 2
الَّذِیۡ خَلَقَ الۡمَوۡتَ وَ الۡحَیٰوۃَ لِیَبۡلُوَکُمۡ اَیُّکُمۡ اَحۡسَنُ عَمَلًا ؕ وَ ہُوَ الۡعَزِیۡزُ الۡغَفُوۡرُ ۙ﴿۲﴾
جس نے موت اور حیات کو اس لئے پیدا کیا کہ تمہیں آزمائے کہ تم میں اچھے کام کون کرتا ہے ، اور وہ غالب ( اور ) بخشنے والا ہے ۔
He Who created death and life to test you as to who among you does good, and He is Mighty (and Forgiving).
سورة الملك – Ayat No 3
الَّذِیۡ خَلَقَ سَبۡعَ سَمٰوٰتٍ طِبَاقًا ؕ مَا تَرٰی فِیۡ خَلۡقِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ مِنۡ تَفٰوُتٍ ؕ فَارۡجِعِ الۡبَصَرَ ۙ ہَلۡ تَرٰی مِنۡ فُطُوۡرٍ ﴿۳﴾
جس نے اوپر اور نیچے سات آسمان بنائے۔ (اے دیکھنے والوں) اللہ رحمٰن کی پیدائش میں کوئی بے قاعدگی نہیں دیکھے گا۔
Who created the seven heavens above and below. (O seers) Allah will not see any irregularity in the birth of the Most Merciful.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 4
ثُمَّ ارۡجِعِ الۡبَصَرَ کَرَّتَیۡنِ یَنۡقَلِبۡ اِلَیۡکَ الۡبَصَرُ خَاسِئًا وَّ ہُوَ حَسِیۡرٌ ﴿۴﴾
پھر اسے دو بار دیکھو، تمہاری نگاہیں تم پر ذلیل (اور عاجزی سے) تھکے ہوئے لوٹ آئیں گی۔
Then look at it twice, your gaze will return to you humiliated (and humbled) and tired.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 5
وَ لَقَدۡ زَیَّنَّا السَّمَآءَ الدُّنۡیَا بِمَصَابِیۡحَ وَ جَعَلۡنٰہَا رُجُوۡمًا لِّلشَّیٰطِیۡنِ وَ اَعۡتَدۡنَا لَہُمۡ عَذَابَ السَّعِیۡرِ ﴿۵﴾
بے شک ہم نے آسمانوں اور زمین کو چراغوں (ستاروں) سے مزین کیا اور ان کو شیاطین کے مارنے کا ذریعہ بنایا اور ہم نے شیطانوں کے لیے (جلنے والا) عذاب تیار کر رکھا ہے۔
Verily, We adorned the heavens and the earth with lamps (stars) and made them a means of killing the devils, and We prepared for the devils a (burning) punishment.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 6
وَ لِلَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا بِرَبِّہِمۡ عَذَابُ جَہَنَّمَ ؕ وَ بِئۡسَ الۡمَصِیۡرُ ﴿۶﴾
اور جو لوگ اپنے رب کے ساتھ کفر کرتے ہیں ان کے لیے جہنم کا عذاب ہے اور وہ بہت ہی بری جگہ ہے۔
And for those who disbelieve in their Lord is the punishment of Hell, and what an evil place it is.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 7
اِذَاۤ اُلۡقُوۡا فِیۡہَا سَمِعُوۡا لَہَا شَہِیۡقًا وَّ ہِیَ تَفُوۡرُ ۙ﴿۷﴾
جب یہ اس میں ڈالے جائیں گے تو اسے اونچی آوازیں سنائی دیں گی اور وہ پرجوش ہو جائے گی۔
When they are thrown into it, they hear from it a [dreadful] inhaling while it boils up.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 8
تَکَادُ تَمَیَّزُ مِنَ الۡغَیۡظِ ؕ کُلَّمَاۤ اُلۡقِیَ فِیۡہَا فَوۡجٌ سَاَلَہُمۡ خَزَنَتُہَاۤ اَلَمۡ یَاۡتِکُمۡ نَذِیۡرٌ ﴿۸﴾
یہ غصے سے پھٹنے والا ہے، جب اس میں ایک گروہ ڈالا جائے گا تو جہنم کے داروغے اس سے پوچھیں گے کہ کیا تمہارے پاس کوئی تمہیں ڈرانے نہیں آیا؟
It is about to explode (right now) with anger, when a group is put into it, the guards of hell will ask him, “Didn’t anyone come to you to scare you?”
سورة الملك – Ayat No 9
قَالُوۡا بَلٰی قَدۡ جَآءَنَا نَذِیۡرٌ ۬ ۙ فَکَذَّبۡنَا وَ قُلۡنَا مَا نَزَّلَ اللّٰہُ مِنۡ شَیۡءٍ ۚ ۖ اِنۡ اَنۡتُمۡ اِلَّا فِیۡ ضَلٰلٍ کَبِیۡرٍ ﴿۹﴾
وہ جواب دیں گے کہ بیشک آیا تھا لیکن ہم نے اسے جھٹلایا اور ہم نے کہا اللہ تعالٰی نے کچھ بھی نازل نہیں فرمایا ۔ تم بہت بڑی گمراہی میں ہی ہو ۔
They will answer that it certainly came, but we denied it and we said that Allah, the Exalted, did not reveal anything. You are very much mistaken.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 10
وَ قَالُوۡا لَوۡ کُنَّا نَسۡمَعُ اَوۡ نَعۡقِلُ مَا کُنَّا فِیۡۤ اَصۡحٰبِ السَّعِیۡرِ ﴿۱۰﴾
اور وہ کہیں گے کہ اگر ہم سنتے یا سمجھتے تو ہم جہنمیوں میں سے نہ ہوتے۔
And they will say that if we had listened or had understanding, we would not have been among the people of Hell.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 11
فَاعۡتَرَفُوۡا بِذَنۡۢبِہِمۡ ۚ فَسُحۡقًا لِّاَصۡحٰبِ السَّعِیۡرِ ﴿۱۱﴾
پس انہوں نے اپنے جرم کا اقبال کر لیا اب یہ دوزخی دفع ہوں ( دور ہوں )
And they will admit their sin, so [it is] alienation for the companions of the Blaze.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 12
اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ یَخۡشَوۡنَ رَبَّہُمۡ بِالۡغَیۡبِ لَہُمۡ مَّغۡفِرَۃٌ وَّ اَجۡرٌ کَبِیۡرٌ ﴿۱۲﴾
بیشک جو لوگ اپنے پروردگار سے غائبانہ طور پر ڈرتے رہتے ہیں ان کے لئے بخشش ہے اور بڑا ثواب ہے ۔
Indeed, those who fear their Lord unseen will have forgiveness and great reward.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 13
وَ اَسِرُّوۡا قَوۡلَکُمۡ اَوِ اجۡہَرُوۡا بِہٖ ؕ اِنَّہٗ عَلِیۡمٌۢ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُوۡرِ ﴿۱۳﴾
تم اپنی باتوں کو چھپاؤ یا ظاہر کرو وہ تو سینوں کی پوشیدگیوں کو بھی بخوبی جانتا ہے ۔
And conceal your speech or publicize it; indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 14
اَلَا یَعۡلَمُ مَنۡ خَلَقَ ؕ وَ ہُوَ اللَّطِیۡفُ الۡخَبِیۡرُ ﴿۱۴﴾٪ 1
کیا وہی نہ جانے جس نے پیدا کیا ؟پھر وہ باریک بین اور باخبربھی ہو ۔
Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle, the Acquainted?
سورة الملك – Ayat No 15
ہُوَ الَّذِیۡ جَعَلَ لَکُمُ الۡاَرۡضَ ذَلُوۡلًا فَامۡشُوۡا فِیۡ مَنَاکِبِہَا وَ کُلُوۡا مِنۡ رِّزۡقِہٖ ؕ وَ اِلَیۡہِ النُّشُوۡرُ ﴿۱۵﴾
وہ ذات جس نے تمہارے لئے زمین کو پست و مطیع کر دیا تاکہ تم اس کی راہوں میں چلتے پھرتے رہو اور اللہ کی روزیاں کھاؤ ( پیو ) اسی کی طرف ( تمہیں ) جی کر اٹھ کھڑا ہونا ہے ۔
It is He who made the earth tame for you – so walk among its slopes and eat of His provision – and to Him is the resurrection.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 16
ءَاَمِنۡتُمۡ مَّنۡ فِی السَّمَآءِ اَنۡ یَّخۡسِفَ بِکُمُ الۡاَرۡضَ فَاِذَا ہِیَ تَمُوۡرُ ﴿ۙ۱۶﴾
کیا تم اس بات سے بے خوف ہوگئے ہو کہ آسمانوں والا تمہیں زمین میں نہ دھنسا دے اور اچانک زمین لرزنے لگے ۔
Do you feel secure that He who [holds authority] in the heaven would not cause the earth to swallow you and suddenly it would sway?
سورة الملك – Ayat No 17
اَمۡ اَمِنۡتُمۡ مَّنۡ فِی السَّمَآءِ اَنۡ یُّرۡسِلَ عَلَیۡکُمۡ حَاصِبًا ؕ فَسَتَعۡلَمُوۡنَ کَیۡفَ نَذِیۡرِ ﴿۱۷﴾
یا کیا تم اس بات سے نڈر ہوگئے ہو کہ آسمانوں والا تم پر پتھر برسادے؟ پھر تمہیں معلوم ہو ہی جائے گا کہ میرا ڈرانا کیسا تھا ۔
Or do you feel secure that He who [holds authority] in the heaven would not send against you a storm of stones? Then you would know how [severe] was My warning.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 18
وَ لَقَدۡ کَذَّبَ الَّذِیۡنَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِہِمۡ فَکَیۡفَ کَانَ نَکِیۡرِ ﴿۱۸﴾
اور ان سے پہلے لوگوں نے بھی جھٹلایا تھا تو دیکھو ان پر میرا عذاب کیسا ہوا؟
And already had those before them denied, and how [terrible] was My reproach.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 19
اَوَ لَمۡ یَرَوۡا اِلَی الطَّیۡرِ فَوۡقَہُمۡ صٰٓفّٰتٍ وَّ یَقۡبِضۡنَ ؔ ۘ ؕ مَا یُمۡسِکُہُنَّ اِلَّا الرَّحۡمٰنُ ؕ اِنَّہٗ بِکُلِّ شَیۡءٍ ۢ بَصِیۡرٌ ﴿۱۹﴾
کیا یہ اپنےاوپر پر کھولے ہوئے اور ( کبھی کبھی ) سمیٹے ہوئے ( اڑنے والے ) پرندوں کو نہیں دیکھتے ، انہیں ( اللہ ) رحمن ہی ( ہوا و فضا میں ) تھامے ہوئے ہے بیشک ہرچیز اس کی نگاہ میں ہے ۔
Do they not see the birds above them with wings outspread and [sometimes] folded in? None holds them [aloft] except the Most Merciful. Indeed He is, of all things, Seeing.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 20
اَمَّنۡ ہٰذَا الَّذِیۡ ہُوَ جُنۡدٌ لَّکُمۡ یَنۡصُرُکُمۡ مِّنۡ دُوۡنِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ ؕ اِنِ الۡکٰفِرُوۡنَ اِلَّا فِیۡ غُرُوۡرٍ ﴿ۚ۲۰﴾
سوائے اللہ کے تمہارا وہ کون سا لشکر ہے جو تمہاری مدد کر سکے کافر تو سراسر دھو کے ہی میں ہیں ۔
Or who is it that could be an army for you to aid you other than the Most Merciful? The disbelievers are not but in delusion.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 21
اَمَّنۡ ہٰذَا الَّذِیۡ یَرۡزُقُکُمۡ اِنۡ اَمۡسَکَ رِزۡقَہٗ ۚ بَلۡ لَّجُّوۡا فِیۡ عُتُوٍّ وَّ نُفُوۡرٍ ﴿۲۱﴾
اگر اللہ تعالٰی اپنی روزی روک لے تو بتاؤ کون ہے جو پھر تمہیں روزی دے گا بلکہ ( کافر ) تو سرکشی اور بدکنے پر اڑ گئے ہیں ۔
Or who is it that could provide for you if He withheld His provision? But they have persisted in insolence and aversion.
سورة الملك – Ayat No 22
اَفَمَنۡ یَّمۡشِیۡ مُکِبًّا عَلٰی وَجۡہِہٖۤ اَہۡدٰۤی اَمَّنۡ یَّمۡشِیۡ سَوِیًّا عَلٰی صِرَاطٍ مُّسۡتَقِیۡمٍ ﴿۲۲﴾
اچھا وہ شخص زیادہ ہدایت والا ہے جو اپنے منہ کے بل اوندھا ہو کر چلے یا وہ جو سیدھا ( پیروں کے بل ) راہ راست پر چلا ہو؟
Then is one who walks fallen on his face better guided or one who walks erect on a straight path?
سورة الملك – Ayat No 23
قُلۡ ہُوَ الَّذِیۡۤ اَنۡشَاَکُمۡ وَ جَعَلَ لَکُمُ السَّمۡعَ وَ الۡاَبۡصَارَ وَ الۡاَفۡئِدَۃَ ؕ قَلِیۡلًا مَّا تَشۡکُرُوۡنَ ﴿۲۳﴾
کہہ دیجئے کہ وہی ( اللہ ) ہے جس نے تمہیں پیدا کیا اور تمہارے کان آنکھیں اور دل بنائے تم بہت ہی کم شکر گزاری کرتے ہو ۔
Say, “It is He who has produced you and made for you hearing and vision and hearts; little are you grateful.”
سورة الملك – Ayat No 24
قُلۡ ہُوَ الَّذِیۡ ذَرَاَکُمۡ فِی الۡاَرۡضِ وَ اِلَیۡہِ تُحۡشَرُوۡنَ ﴿۲۴﴾
کہہ دیجئے! کہ وہی ہے جس نے تمہیں زمین میں پھیلا دیا اور اس کی طرف تم اکٹھے کئے جاؤ گے ۔
Say, ” It is He who has multiplied you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered.”
سورة الملك – Ayat No 25
وَ یَقُوۡلُوۡنَ مَتٰی ہٰذَا الۡوَعۡدُ اِنۡ کُنۡتُمۡ صٰدِقِیۡنَ ﴿۲۵﴾
۔ ( کافر ) پوچھتے ہیں کہ وہ وعدہ کب ظاہر ہوگا اگر تم سچے ہو ( تو بتاؤ؟ )
And they say, “When is this promise, if you should be truthful?”
سورة الملك – Ayat No 26
قُلۡ اِنَّمَا الۡعِلۡمُ عِنۡدَ اللّٰہِ ۪ وَ اِنَّمَاۤ اَنَا نَذِیۡرٌ مُّبِیۡنٌ ﴿۲۶﴾
آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ اس کا علم تو اللہ ہی کو ہے میں تو صرف کھلے طور پر آگاہ کر دینے والا ہوں ۔
Say, “The knowledge is only with Allah , and I am only a clear warner.”
سورة الملك – Ayat No 27
فَلَمَّا رَاَوۡہُ زُلۡفَۃً سِیۡٓئَتۡ وُجُوۡہُ الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا وَ قِیۡلَ ہٰذَا الَّذِیۡ کُنۡتُمۡ بِہٖ تَدَّعُوۡنَ ﴿۲۷﴾
جب یہ لوگ اس وعدے کو قریب تر پا لیں گے اس وقت ان کافروں کے چہرے بگڑ جائیں گے اور کہہ دیا جائے گا کہ یہی ہے جسے تم طلب کیا کرتے تھے ۔
But when they see it approaching, the faces of those who disbelieve will be distressed, and it will be said, “This is that for which you used to call.”
سورة الملك – Ayat No 28
قُلۡ اَرَءَیۡتُمۡ اِنۡ اَہۡلَکَنِیَ اللّٰہُ وَ مَنۡ مَّعِیَ اَوۡ رَحِمَنَا ۙ فَمَنۡ یُّجِیۡرُ الۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ مِنۡ عَذَابٍ اَلِیۡمٍ ﴿۲۸﴾
آپ کہہ دیجئے! اچھا اگر مجھے اور میرے ساتھیوں کو اللہ تعالٰی ہلاک کر دے یا ہم پر رحم کرے ( بہر صورت یہ تو بتاؤ ) کہ کافروں کو دردناک عذاب سے کون بچائے گا؟
Say, [O Muhammad], “Have you considered: whether Allah should cause my death and those with me or have mercy upon us, who can protect the disbelievers from a painful punishment?”
سورة الملك – Ayat No 29
قُلۡ ہُوَ الرَّحۡمٰنُ اٰمَنَّا بِہٖ وَ عَلَیۡہِ تَوَکَّلۡنَا ۚ فَسَتَعۡلَمُوۡنَ مَنۡ ہُوَ فِیۡ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِیۡنٍ ﴿۲۹﴾
آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ وہی رحمٰن ہے ۔ ہم تو اس پر ایمان لاچکے اور اسی پر ہمارا بھروسہ ہے تمہیں عنقریب معلوم ہو جائے گا کہ صریح گمراہی میں کون ہے؟
Say, “He is the Most Merciful; we have believed in Him, and upon Him we have relied. And you will [come to] know who it is that is in clear error.”
سورة الملك – Ayat No 30
قُلۡ اَرَءَیۡتُمۡ اِنۡ اَصۡبَحَ مَآؤُکُمۡ غَوۡرًا فَمَنۡ یَّاۡتِیۡکُمۡ بِمَآءٍ مَّعِیۡنٍ ﴿٪۳۰﴾
آپ کہہ دیجئے! کہ اچھا یہ تو بتاؤ کہ اگر تمہارے ( پینے کا ) پانی زمین میں اتر جائے تو کون ہے جو تمہارے لئے نتھرا ہوا پانی لائے؟
Say, “Have you considered: if your water was to become sunken [into the earth], then who could bring you flowing water?”

Revelation and Context
Surah Al-Mulk was revealed in Makkah and consists of 30 verses. It emphasizes the magnificence of Allah’s creation, the purpose of life and death, and the consequences of belief and disbelief. The surah serves as a reminder of the sovereignty of Allah and the transient nature of worldly life.
Protection in the Grave
One of the most well-known virtues of Surah Al-Mulk is its role in providing protection from the punishment of the grave. Intercession on the Day of Judgment
